The Commission awarded a total of 325 grants to a wide variety ol arts organizations, schools and local governments for a range of arts-related activities. According to a Commission spokesman, the grants are awarded on the basis of artistic quality, management ability and service to the community.
The Virginia Commission for the Arts is the state agency which promotes the arts throughout the Commonwealth.
