Exercise is one of several factors that may contribute to heart health. Other factors including eating a well-balanced diet, avoiding cigarette smoking and heavy alcohol consumption.

Your heart is a muscle and, like the other muscles in your body, gets stronger with certain kinds of regular exercise. Endurance or aerobic exercises, such as walking, bicycling, swimming, running, vigorous soccer and basketball are examples of this kind of exercise.
