Road, and Clifton Clark will get $1,000 a month for the use of his property for solid waste disposal. Both agreements will run through December 31,1987. Supervisor Nelson Lane, who represents Stonewall-Hawthome District where the dump is located, was the single vote against the contractual arrangements.
But Mr. Lane voted with his fellow supervisors in unanimously approving the waste exchange agreement with Culpeper County, intended as a back-up in case the new December 31 deadline arrives before the new county landfill is ready to receive Rappahannock’s garbage.
“I’d like to express gratitude, on behalf of the Board of Supervisors and the citizens of Rappahannock, to Mr. John Shafer and the co-owners of the adjoining property and to Mr. Clifton Clark for agreeing to the continued use of the existing landfill,” said Mr. McCarthy. “They’ve certainly put personal interests aside to act in the best interests of the county.”
