Rappahannock County is served 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by the Pegasus helicopter and its support facilities at University of Virginia Medical Center. The helicopter can be requested by EMS personnel on the scene of any accident.
The RREMS Council also recognized a number of other contributions at its annual banquet. The award for the Outstanding Squad Member went to Charles Lauffer, of Culpeper’s Company 11 Rescue Squad. Instructor of the Tear honors went to David M. (Skip).Wolfford, also of Culpeper. Besides teaching two EMT classes last year, Mr. Wolfford also furthered his own knowledge by completing the Cardiac Techniciancourse.
Two Outstanding Citizen awards were given, one ‘to Art Dwyer of. Culpeper and the other to Mike Hale of Madison.
And a special award, recognizing his Outstanding Contribution to EMS, was bestowed upon Mike Willis, owner of Mike’s Glass aind Mirror in Culpeper. For years, Mr. Willis had the RREMSC offices, rent-free, in the basement of his building. Af
