Every year for the last decade or so, the county supervisors have considered - and rejected - the option of publishing the list of delinquent taxpayers in the Rappahannock News . On Monday, they considered but did not reject.
“We’ve done everything we possibly could to run local government in a fiscally responsible manner,” said Supervisor A1 Henry. “I think we should do everything we possibly can to collect that money, including advertising in the paper . . . The people who don’t pay their taxes are a slap in the face to those who do.”
According to Clerk Diane Bruce, approximately $30,000, less than 10 percent of the county’s total annual revenue from personal property and real estate levies, remains unpaid.
