On Sunday evening, beginning at 7 p.m., John McCutcheon will bring his renowned “one-man folk festival” to the lawn of the Culpeper County Courthouse. “The most impressive instrumentalist I’ve ever heard” is the way Johnny Cash described John McCutcheon, adding that he is truly one of the great performers of American traditional music.
Proficient on baqjo, fiddle, guitar, autoharp, hammered dulcimer and jaw harp, he also plays a mean hambone, concert veterans said. “This will be an evening of incredible variety which the whole family is sure to enjoy,” a concert spokesman said.
Once again, organizers suggest blankets, lawn chairs and picnics be brought, and the requested donation will be $1 per person.
“Bluemont is a volunteer-based organization,” the spokesman said. “Our volunteers do much of the work that makes these community concerts a reality.
