zoning ordinance? Reaffirming the 1971 opinion,.“the:Attorney General went oh to state that a county is exempt from its own zoning ordinance in the operation of a sanitary landfill unless the ordinance is expressly made applicable to the county,” Mr. Luke reported.
That Madison County landfill and the Attorney General’s position was the subject of litigation, with the court upholding the view that the county did not have to comply with its own zoning ordinance. Upon review, the Supreme Court of Virginia found no error in this opinion, noted Mr. Luke.
