Although the weatherman was not completely cooperative, the merchants and crafters wha attended the Sperryville Apple Harvest Celebration and the Artists of the Blue Ridge exhibition reported good sales and plenty of people.
Saturday, rain and -wind prevailed, but a good number of dedicated festival-seekers braved the elements to enjoy Sperryville, according to Cheri Woodard, whose Faith Mountain Company is the cosponsor of the exhibition. “The rain seems to bring out the serious buyers,” she explained, adding that the merchants reported more sales on Saturday than on Sunday, when a large crowd jammed the town for the entire sunny day.
Anne Stephens, director of the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community, which also sponsors the artists’ exhibition, agreed. “It went really well. Saturday was surprisingly busy, despite the rain. The exhibitors had a great day — the people who came were seriously interested in seeing and purchasing the art.”
