Fall 10K run

The Westmoreland County Recreation Department announced that it will sponsor a 10-kilometer distance run Saturday, Oct. 24. Called the Colonial Beach Classic 10K Run, it will begin at 10 a.m. at the Colonial Beach High School.

According to Alice Hutnyan, recreation department director and race organizer, the course is relatively flat and will be run on hardsurface roads. Splits will be called every mile and several water stations will be provided along the course. There will also be shower and restroom facilities near the start-finish line.

Trophies will also be awarded to the overall winners, top finishers in each age group, and t-shirts will be given to those who pre-register for the event. Entry fees are $8 by mail before race day, $10 the day of the race between 8 and 9:50 a.m. Ms. Hutnyan stressed that no late entries will be accepted.

For race information, directions and registration forms, send a selfaddressed, stamped envelope to Westmoreland County Recreation Department, P. 0. Box 467, Montross, Va. 22520, Attn: Alice Hutnyan; or call (804) 493-8911, ext. 218.
