it the board ot supervisors were opposed to the creation of the Virginia Equine Center, then there was a glaring lack of leadership on the part of the chairman for not communicating the' pohitibn of the board to me or Delegate George Beard.'
The study committee visited Commonwealth Park, in Culpeper County, along with many other possible sites, and unanimously rejected any further consideration of Commonwealth Park because it did not meet the desired criteria of an equine center. In addition, the owner simply wanted to sell part of the facilities to the state. I am proud to represent the 26th District. Most people agree that this is one of the most conservative districts in Virginia. Therefore, I think it only fitting that as your senator, I have an established record as a leader in defending freedom of the individual and the free enterprise system. I have been rated by the Virginia Conservative Education and Research Institute every year as the first or second most conservative member of the state.
Fortunately, the citizens of the 26th Senate District are intelligent enough to decide whether the statements published by the resident of Washington, Va., are statements of substance or simple irrational rant of a chronic partisian.
