of far western Maryland got less than their usual over-abundant snows. Most towns in our middle belt tallied 10 to 50 percent above normal quantities; Frederick had its fifth snowiest winter of the last 30 years. But in bay and coastal regions to the east and south, there was more snow than they have had for many years. Many places, such as Washington, D.C., reported more than twice the normal amounts.
