A former reporter on general assignment and educational issues with the Washington Daily News, Mrs. Kilpatrick taught for four years and is currently a substitute with the Rappahannock County public schools. Over the past several years, she’s led the effort to organize the county’s Girl Scout programs.

As a citizen activist, she’s attended the monthly meetihgs of the Rappahannock County School Board for more than a decade and intermittently monitored the board of supervisors’ sessions.

This write-in campaign is not Mrs. Kilpatrick’s first foray into politics. She was Sen. Eugene McCarthy’s running mate in Virginia in his unsuccessful bid for the presidency.

She and her husband Sean, a professional photographer and former newspaper editor, run a Christmas tree farm near Woodville. They have three children at Rappahannock County High School: Heather and Douglas Kilpatrick and Daniel Cremers, a foreign exchange student who is living with the family.
