Many people think that fresh vegetables can be enjoyed only during the summer months. Fall root vegetables such as turnips and rutabagas are harvested during the fall and winter months. Many gardeners leave these vegetables in the ground during the winter covered with a good bed of mulch for protection. Others store them in a root celler.
