Fall color watch
Peak fall color has passed at higher elevations in Shenandoah National Park and throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains. At lower elevations the colors are sti 11 spectacular, but the winds have picked up during the last several days and are stripping the trees of their colorful wraps. Leaf-seeking visitors to the county are warned to bring their patience, since traffic backups are common during these weekends of peak fall color.
