Celbvieh: A red German breed very similar in capability to Simmental, developed as a dual-purpose breed, large, moderately heavy milking. Use in rotational crossing schemes or as terminal cross.
Chianina: An Italian breed, gray in color, one of the largest breeds in the world, very tall, developed as a draft breed. Came into the United State in the 1970s. Has been used to produce show steers. Good for terminal crossing.
Maine Anjou: A large red and white spotted French breed developed for meat production. Game into this country in the 1970s. Best use terminal cross.
Brahman: The Brahman breed is an American produced in Zebu. Current stock originating in India. Color is gray, heat tolerant, insect tolerant, used heavily in southern part of United States in tropical environment. Main use in crossbreeding programs with British breeds.
Brangus: An American produced synthetic which is black, 3/8 brahman, 5/8 Angus.
Bradford: An American produced synthetic that is 3/8 Braham, 5/8 Limousin, red in color, large and meaty.
Brahmosin: An American produced synthetic that is 3/8 Brahman, 5/8 Limousin, red in color, large and meaty.
Simbrah: An American produced synthetic that is 3/8 Brahman, 5/8 Simmental, larger, produces milk, basically red with white face.
Santa Gertrudis: An American produced synthetic produced by the King Ranch in Texas, 3/8 Brahman, 5/8 Shorthorn, red in color.
