their recommendation for approval of the proposed location on (1) the merger of the strip of land at the rear of the proposed library lot, and (2) later approval of a plat which will show the technical details of the site development. In addition, Mr. McCarthy noted that authorization for the land division will come concurrent with issuance of the building permit for the building itself so as to preclude any possibility of the two acres being used for a residental lot.

Thanking the commissioners for their recommendation for approval of the special exception permit, Mrs. Jamieson concluded: “We want this to be a model for a rural library. . .We’re hoping to make it the best little library in Virginia!”

In the only other action at last Wednesday’s meeting, the commissioners recommended that the Board of Zoning Appeals grant a special use permit to Rob Brown for a three-unit apartment in Sperryville. Mr. Brown had initially proposed a six-unit building on a 0.3 acre lot on Sperryville’s Main Street, but the BZA found this violated the county zoning ordinance which allows multi-family housing at a density of 10 units per acre in village commercial zones.

The county administrator reported that he has begun drafting revisions to the county’s comprehensive plan and should have the document completed for the Planning Commission’s consideration within three months.
