“This year's drought poses a serious threat to farmers in Virginia. Farmers in 21 counties in the Commonwealth of Virginia qualify for loan assistance for crop damages and losses due to the drought," Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr. announced from his Washington, D.C. office.
“After careful review of crop damage reports, the Department of Agriculture has declared 21 counties as natural disaster areas where eligible family farmers may qualify for Farmers Home Administration loan assistance,” Mr. Slaughter said.
Rep. Slaughter was notified that in the Seventh District, Page and Goochland Counties have been declared natural disaster areas.
In additon, Slaughter noted that seven other counties in the Seventh District were named contiguous counties where eligible family farmers may qualify for emergency loan assistance. These contiguous counties are Rappahannock, Fauquier,
