Robb for Senate

We feel that former governor Charles S. Robb is the right man to fill the U. S. Senate seat being vacated by Paul S. Trible Jr. Gov. Robb is a man with experience in government , a man respected by people of all political persuasions in Virginia.

Although he carries the Democratic banner, Gov. Robb hails from the party’s conservative wing. He was one of the founders of the Democratic Leadership Council, a group which also included Georgia’s Senator Sam Nunn.

< lov. Robb, while fiscally conservative, also has shown compassion for the least fortunate of our society -—those who too often are left behind in good times and the first to feel the belt-tightening of difficult economic straits.

As a Marine, Gov. Robb served in Vietnam. He understands the importance of defense, and realizes that the l Inite.! States — while seeking peace — must also be vigilant against others with less honorable intentions. He shares Sen. Nunn’s conviction in that regard; that the current political climate of improved relations with the Soviet Union should be welcomed but still viewed with caution.
