And for those who might have missed Marion on horseback or in the halls of RCES and RCHS, she’s that outgoing and friendly young woman who never passed anyone without giving them a smile and a hello.
After graduating with honors from the University of Virginia, she married her childhood sweetheart, John Facchina, who was then a deputy with the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Department. He joined the State Police and she became a visiting nurse with Home Country Home Health in Warrenton. She says she considered applying for the public health nurse position back in 1986 when Mrs. Foster retired, “but John was in school, and we didn’t know where he’d be assigned when he finished. It could have been anywhere in the state.”
