“You make the difference this time!" said Maggie Rogers. RCES PTA Ways and Means Chairman. She was referring to the “Safety First" fund-raiser for the bus communication system.
The fund-raiser’s purpose is to provide radios for buses which are still without. Radios provide immediate emergency contact en route in times of breakdown, snow, flood or accidents. They can also be used to relay field trip delays and parent-tostudent emergency messages.
Last year the PTA earned $3,295 toward purchasing radios. A total of $7,000 is still needed, however, the fund-raising monies alone are not responsible for meeting the entire amount.
Presently, 10 buses have radios. The system has already proven itself a safety asset last year. Twelve buses are still in need of radios.
