To the editor:
Your choice of John Marocchi as the pre-election spokesman for the Republican Party in Rappahannock County was an excellent one. I am not personally acquainted with the man nor have I ever spoken with him, to my knowledge,. I am judging solely by his words printed by you in the OP-ED article of Oct. 20, headed “Vote Republican:”
Mr. Marocchi’s words are a direct political appeal to our county for Republican votes to be sure, but his was certainly not an exercise in polemics such as one generally expects on these occasions. The three key principles which Mr. Marocchi claims undergird the Republican Party are summarized by him in simple and convincing words; the writer’s own sincerity in choosing them tells the reader that he, personally, believes in every word he is writing.
I know that you hold to the doctrine of fairness and expect that you will soon print an OP-ED headed
