Mohammed Raisa Lotfi, a new-age classical composer, musician and arranger, will appear at the Gay Street Theater on Friday. March 10 for a program of authentic Iranian music, presented by RAAC. Tickets for this special performance will be sold only at the door, at S3 for children, $5 for adults. The performance begins at b p.nt.
Brain gym workshop
The Child Care and Learning Center will be sponsoring a workshop on Brain Gym — “A veritable toolbox for learning and performing more effectively without trying harder.” Learn how to help your child improve his reading, concentration, memory, listening and much more. The three-hour Workshop will be held at the Center on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. Class fee is $25. Registration is limited, so to pre-register call the Center at 675-3237.
Springtime Fantasies
The Rappahannock Womens Club will have their annual fashion show on Sunday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Elementary School. This year’s show, “Springtime Fantasies” will fea: ture fashions from Frank’s and Warren Quality in Front Royal as well as fashions from Country Manor and The Faith Mountain Company in Sperryville. Proceeds from the event will go to the annual scholarship for a Rappahannock County High School graduating senior and the Rappahannock Library. Lions' Bland Music Contest
The Rappahannock Lions Club will offer musically talented students from the county's schools the opportunity to play and compete at its annual Bland Music Contest on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock High School auditorium. This contest gives young musicians an opportunity to perform, and members of the community a chance to listen to and appreciate their music. And, prizes of $100, $50 and $25 savings bonds are awarded to the top contestants in the instrumental and voice categories. First-place winners also advance to regional, state and national competitions, where additional cash awards and scholarships are presented. Members of the community are encouraged to attend this free concert. According to Lions Club spokesman Mike Mahoney, “my experience is that the better the audience, the better the performance.”
