1/4 cup melted butter, cooled
1-1/2 tsp. salt
Sprinkle yeast and 1/2 teaspoon sugar over 2 tablespoons water in a small bowl. Allow to stand for a couple of minutes so yeast is completely dissolved and starts to foam. Place flour in a bowl and make a well in the center. Pour in yeast mixture with 1 cup warm water, butter, salt and remaining sugar. Blend ingredients into flour with a spoon and then knead on a floured surface until dough is soft and elastic. Add flour as needed. Shape dough into a smooth ball and place in an oiled bowl, turning dough to coat the surface.
