Community Lenten service
The series of interdenominational Lenten services will continue on Wednesday, March 1 with a talk by Father Albert Verbeke titled, “Acts of Mercy.” The inspirational lesson will follow a potluek dinner at Trinity Episcopal Church parish hall. Dinner will begin at 6:15 p.m., and the lesson should end by X p.m. Baby-sitters will be available. The series is being sponsored by Trinity Episcopal, St. Peter’s Catholic Mission, the churches of the Rappahannock United Methodist parish, Washington Baptist and Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church.
Contest deadline extended
The deadline for entries in the county-wide Recyclable Art Contest has been extended until Thursday, April 13, when they may be delivered to the Middle Street Gallery from 4-6:30 p.m. Winners in the student division will be announced at the opening of the Recycled Art Show on Sunday, April 16 at the gallery. For more information about the Rappahannock Recyclable Art Contest, contact litter coordinator Nina Stamer (675-3810).
Trash into art
The Middle Street Gallery and the Child Care and Learning Center will sponsor a family art workshop, using recyclable garbage. It will be held on Saturday, March 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at CCLC. Artist Laurie Marshall will supply technical assistance, participants are urged to BYOT (bring your own trash). The cost is $10 per person or $15 per family. Children may submit their creations to the Recycled Art Contest, and adults may exhibit their works at the gallery’s Recycled Art Show. Eor information, or to register, call 675-3267 or 6753810.
