Citizens of Virginia: I would like to let you know the outcome of Sen. Colgan’s Family Life Education postponement bill (SB705).
On Feb. 2 there was a brief hearing on this bill, where only three speakers were allowed to speak — in spite of the fact that a number of citizens had made the trip to Richmond to testify in favor of the bill. Of course, time was allowed for opponents to speak, even though there were very few.
When it came down to the vote, only two senators stood up for what the majority of Virginians wanted in regard to FLE. The two senators were Sen. Houck and Sen. Chichester. The following senators voted against the citizens of Virginia: Sen. Gray, Sen. Walker, Sen. Andrews, Sen. E.M. Holland, Sen. Schewel, Sen. Nolen, Sen. Saslaw, Sen. Michie, Sen. Bird, Sen. Joannou, Sen. Lambert, Sen. C.A. Holland
