Opposition centers on safety, noise
Robert Jenkins, speaking in opposition to the application, said of the Woodards’ presentation, “They’ve covered a lot of things I was concerned about. ”
He wondered, however, what would happen during spring and fall festivals such as those Faith Mountain has sponsored in Sperryville in the past. “There are hundreds of cars. Where are they going to park, all along Route 211?” he asked.
He said he lives between the Rappahannock Farmers’ Cooperative and the property up for rezoning. Mr. Jenkins told the commissioners he already hears a lot of noise from the Co-op in the early mornings, “[and] I’m not crazy about having an outlet store on the other side.”
Mr. Woodard said he didn’t plan to have festivals at the new location. ‘That is an activity that lends itself to a location like a village.”
Mrs. Woodard added, “The earliest we start is 7 a.m. It’s later on weekends. We’re basically a very quiet industry.”
