Changes to jail
may lower cost

The proposed addition to the jail would serve at least three functions, according to Sheriff John Henry Woodward.
The basement level, as designed, would add three cells, storage areas and a furnace room.
On the ground flbor, the present cramped combination dispatch and deputies' office would be split, providing a separate area for the dispatchers and their communications equipment. The deputies would have their own office, as would Sheriff Woodward, and a third office could be used for investigations. There is another room in which the department's records would be stored.
Upstairs, the kitchen w ould take up much of the addition, along with a large pantry for food storage. The rest of that level would be a dayroom for the prisoners, w'here they can watch television, read and eat if they wish. I
