A similar bill introduced by freshman Del. Linda Rollins, R-32nd District, which would extend conditional zoning to Fauquier County and Stafford, has followed the path of Cranwell’s bill, struggling to shrug off the amendments.
As a result of the hostile reception that Cranwell’s zoning bill received in the House, Rollins requested her bill be passed by for the day. Currently her bill is amendment-free. Cranwell is expected to call for a re-vote on the removal of the amendments from his bill.
If the House refuses to remove the language, Sen. Virgil H. Goode Jr., D-20th District, chairman of the Senate Local Government Committee, will select a joint committee to resolve the amendment battle.
