for any of the tests, whether for children or adults. Adults are invited to take the entire battery of vision, hearing, glaucoma and diabetes tests, or to come for just one checkup.
The costs of operating the unit are borne by the Lions Clubs of District 24-A. Lion Robert Anderson, who is coordinating the screening unit’s visit, explained that proceeds from community projects like the Rappahannock Club’s annual auction, apple butter sales, light bulb drives, fruitcake and nut sales are contributed toward making this service available to the residents of Rappahannock County, as well as the rest of District 24-A, Northern Virginia.
Parents whose children are found to have suspected hearing or vision problems through the screening uni' will be notified by the school administration, Mr. Anderson said. The parents are then responsible for any further diagnostic testing or correction of the problem.
