liosse studied witn nis iatner, raui Geuiragossian, in Armenia and Paris as a child. His art studies were taken in Munich and Paris, with a degree from the University of Beirut. He has also participated in eight group shows in Europe and Beirut.
Chuck Pardington will show intricately detailed photographs of moths and butterflies, insect wings, seeking to integrate scientific investigation w'ith artistic expression.
Upon entering the gallery you’ll see a group of cast-iron creations by guest artist Nana Schowalter, whose “Fire Birds” flew' all the way here from Blanchardville, Wise., to participate. Ms. Schowalter feels that “giving form to hot steel is a truly magical experience.”
The gallery’s show wrill also present new photographs by honorary member Edik Gladkow' of Moscow. Mr. Gladkow lives and works in Moscow’ as a photojournalist. His aim is the “free reflection of the varied reality with which I am surrounded, a life evolving in sharp contrasts.”
No matter how you look at it, this show proves to be an extraordinary combination of many forms of art. The works included are too diverse to be described, and there are many other gallery artists and their friends included in the show' who have not been mentioned. This is a rare opportunity to see such a crosssection of varied perceptions of the world through a diverse collection of media.
The show' w'ill open on Saturday, March 4, from 4-7 p.m. followed by a performance by local group Trapezoid at 8 p.m. at the Town Hall.
Middle Street Gallery is open from Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. or by appointment. The “Artists and Friends Show” will be showing through the end of March.
Ms. Nicholas is a painter who lives near Flint Hill. She is also a member of the Middle Street Artists' Cooperative, a non-profit organization which manages the Middle Street Gallery.
