And where is that small house or apartment for the retired person (also bom here) who wants to move close to town — Sperryville, Washington, Flint Hill, etc? It doesn’t exist.
Housing is neither available nor affordable. So pack up and leave home. Leave you friends. Leave it to those who tear it down.
I live in Rappahannock and I miss it already. Twenty-five-acre minimum lot size and all those zoning laws preserves the landscape for newcomers. But they’ll never know Rappahannock’s heart and soul.
On the bright side: those of us who live here now can enjoy the view — as we leave.
By the way — who is Paul Sutphin? And where is Pearisburg?
