When it rains, it pours.
Rappahannock County, along with the rest of Virginia, traded snowfall for wetter precipitation last weekend as rain began on Friday night and continued on to Monday morning. The steady downfall, turning heavy at times, sent creeks climbing out of their banks and closed county roads. Rappahannock public schools cancelled classes on Monday for the 11th day this winter.
Elizabeth Scherschel of Flint Hill is one of 12 students from Lord Fairfax Community College to be included in the 1978-79 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges.

While commending him on
his presentation, the Rappahannock County Board of Zoning Appeals unanimously followed a Planning Commission recommendation to deny Chilton Raiford’s application for a special use permit to sell shoes weekends and evenings at his residence on Route 211 west of Amissville. The action came at the Board’s February 22 session.
