Medical insurance
through Medicare
According to Bruce A. Hundley, Social Security manager in Culpeper, the general enrollment period for the medical insurance part of Medicare runs from now through the end of March.
Until March 31, Mr. Hundley explained, people who passed up the chance for this protection before or who had it and dropped out can again enroll.
Protection for people who sign up during the general enrollemnt period will start on July 1. Mr. Hundley said.
The federal government pays about three-fourths of the premium costs from federal general revenues.
Medical insurance helps pay for doctors’ services no matter where they are received in the United States, including surgical services, diagnostic tests and X-rays that are part of the treatment and which cannot be self-administered.
