The day opens at 10 a.m. with hunter pairs running over three miles of open country. In this event, open to horses and riders who have hunted regularly during the season, riders gallop and jump coops and iother natural hunting fences at optimum and fast times.
Juniors usher in the point-topoint races by galloping their ponies at noon. They are followed by a turf race, open and ladies’ timber, maiden and open hurdle, and foxhunters’ and owner-rider timber.
Entries are plentiful. Henry Wood, who won the Casanova Cup last week with Topeador, is scheduled to compete again at Rappahannock.
His competition includes William Russell on Man of Steel, who came in second last week; Randy Waterman on Mocito Bien; Woods Winants on his father’s Hurok’s Tryst; and Mike Elmore on Adam’s Hero.
The open timber race features winners from last week as well. John Branscome’s Star Billing will test his running and jumping prowess against Tommy Lee Jones’ Diamond
