RICHMOND — Fairfax County and its adjacent counties and cities have been granted the power to impose impact fees on new development to pay for road improvementsnecessitated by the development.
The impact fees bill is closely linked with the conditional zoning bill that permits Northern Virginia localities to accept proffers for conditions caused by land rezoning. Both pieces of legislation, introduced by Del. C. Richard Cranwell D-14th Distict, were overwhelmingly supported by Northern Virginia legislators after being amended by joint conference committees.
