county’s home extension agent, had inquired if there was some way the county could buy the van and give it to the extension office for 4-H use. She told him the School Board wanted $6,000 for it.
“It would sure come in handy at the jail,” Sheriff John Henry Woodward told the Supervisors. He said he could use it to transport prisoners or take the seats out and use it to transport food once the jail kitchen is complete. “The price is good,” he added.
“We’ve already got it in the county,” Col. Bingham pointed out. “If we don’t keep it here, we’re going to need it, and then we’ll have to buy something. ”
Mr. Estes noted that if the county buys it from the School Board the money reverts to the county.
Col. Bingham made a motion, to have Mr. McCarthy ask Superintendent Dr. David Gangel to put a hold on selling the van "until the county can see if there is a real need for it.” The motion passed 4-0.
