His exploits dated back to 1745 and a monument in his honor is located in Bland County, Va.; a framed Lei and Crown was presented which belonged to King Kamehameha I of the Polynesian Islands, now known as Hawaii; paintings by Robert Fulton, who invented the steamboat; a watch with a key windup before stems were invented; and numerous quilts, silver, crystal and books dating back over 100 years.
