Senate provisions that would have give local governments the option to raise the local share of the recordation tax were deleted after the House opposed more local option increases. Having approved the one percent local option income tax, House members were wary of more tax increases with elections coming this fall.
The legislation comes after the Assembly approved sending $40 million of the recordation tax southward to U.S. 58.
