Landscape show at gallery

School House Gallery in Flint Hill proudly presents a landscape show, “In Country,” from now through Dec. 29, featuring Theresa Duke, Tonya Richey, Chris Stephens and Thomas Spande. For more information, call 636-1507.

Art at Middle St.

The “Art for Gifts” show at Washington’s Middle St. Gallery will run through Dec. 31. Original art gifts for children and adults are available to choose from. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday through Sunday; 9 a.m.-noon, Mondays and Wednesdays; and any other time by appointment, 675-3440.

Library closings

The library will be closed the week of Dec. 24. It will reopen Jan. 2, 1990, for regular hours. Persons wishing to return books during the holidays may leave them in the brown mailbox facing the driveway beside the building.

New Year's in Washington

A New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball will be held at the Washington Fire Hall, 8 p.m.-l a.m., Dec. 31. Music will be provided by the Crazy Eights, Rappahannock’s premier rock-and-roll band. Food and refreshments will be available. Admission is $7.

Gypsy moth open houses

Meetings will be held, 6 p.m.-9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 4; and 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5 at the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church (intersection of U.S. 522 and Route 626 at Scrabble). The purpose of the open houses is to inform the public about the gypsy moth and to obtain public involvement in the treatment decisions that will be implemented in the spring of 1990. The proposed treatment program is part of the federally funded Appalachian Integrated Pest Management Project (AIPM), which included approximately the southern third of Rappahannock County.
