The Rappahannock County Sher' iff s Department is seeking the assistance of Amissville residents in ' locating three young men who ap1 parently stole money and a small ' safe from an elderly woman on Route 642.
The incident, according to Capt. Ed Streapy, happened during the afternoon of Dec. 12. The woman reported that three young white men, estimated to be in their early 20s, knocked on her door to inquire about several dogs she had in her yard.
After she invited them into the house, one distracted the woman while the other two, under the pretense of using her bathroom, rifled her purse and wallet and took a small fireproof safe from her bedroom. The woman did not discover the loss until later that evening when she returned to the bedroom.
