Ray Bailey Sr.
Mr. J. Ray Bailey Sr.. 71, of Brandy Station died Wednesday, Dee. 13 at the Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Bom May 11, 1918, he was the son of the late John and Jane Bailey. He was a lifelong resident of Brandy Station, a member of the Precious Blood Catholic Church, President of the Brandy Volunteer Fire Dept, and charter member of the Brandy Volunteer Fire Dept, and was employed by Central'Hardware for 40 years, while owner of Bailey’s Store in Brandy Station.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph R. Bailey Jr. of Jefferston and Jeffrey H. Bailey of Brandy Station, and one daughter, Judith A. Kilchenstein of Waldorf, Md. Additional survivors include one brother, Leo Bailey of Fairfax; one sister, Hazel Swan of Alexandria, and one grandchild. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Haught Bailey.
A Mass of Christian burial was Dec. 15 at the Precious Blood Catholic Church. The Rev. Leo Zonneveld was the celebrant. Interment was in the Haught Family Cemetery, Rixeyville.
Pallbearers were Joe Troilo, C.E. Coates, Tony Trolio, David S. Brown, J.N. Lindsay, Ben Baldwin, Charlie M. Jenkins and Cameron Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Brandy Station Volunteer Fire Department.
