After a hot day on the river, we loaded up the canoes and headed for the nearest fast food place. We were all ready for a “nutritionally balanced teenaged meal. ”
Then we headed for home.

Learning about nature
On the weekend of Oct. 14 and 15 the teen club from the county went to the Rapidan and Rappahannock Rivers. On the trip we learned about soil and water conservation. This included such topics as strip cropping on the slope to water tanks from natural springs for your livestock.
On the second day, we visited a sewage treatment plant and learned much about what goes into the proper treatment of waste.
When we finished there we went to Caladon, a bald eagle park or reserve, and learned much about the nesting habits, size of the birds and their nests.
In the afternoon we canoed the Rappahannock River and learned of the importance of the marshes to the natural ecology.
