became acquainted with the people there. Then we loaded up the van and were off to look at some examples of stripcropping, which is used to prevent erosion on sloping cropland.
We stopped again to eat a longawaited lunch on the banks of the Rapidan River, then shoved off and paddled away. I was beginning to realize how much fun I was going to have.
I won’t mention how the rest of the trip went so that others can feel the excitement I felt at doing things for myself for once. All I can say is that I think that the program should be available for all other 4-H teens.

Surviving real food
Last moajth^ the Rappahannock 4-H Teen Club and some Madison teens and adults participated in a camping and canoe trip with their counterparts on the Tidewater.
We started the trip by canoeing the Rapidan River on Saturday, and also visiting a local farm to see stripcropping and how it saves the land.
