If we can get the crowd behind us, start getting some fan support, they can expect to see us in the district tournament.
“I’m very optimistic this season,” the coach concluded. “No promises, but . ...” He added that the junior varsity team also shows promise, with a group of ninth and tenth graders who will eventually make a contribution to the varsity squad.
The Panthers’ Dec.-14 home game against George Mason, which was also cancelled due to snow, will be played on Jan. 15.
The Panthers’ next contest is not until after Christmas break, when they will face Stonewall Jackson at RCHS Jan. 3. Gametime for the junior varsity is 7 p.m., with the varsity contest following. Coach Mellott stressed the advantage of a large home crowd and urged the Panthers’ fans to come out and suptheir volleyball team.
