Jones earns
2nd degree
black belt
Four years of dedicated training and practice culminated in the promotion to second-degree black belt of Lynn Jones of Park’s College of Tae Kwon Do at Warrenton.
The exhibition and promotion took place at the College on Friday evening, Nov. 10, and was conducted by ninth-degree black belt Grandmaster Jung Soo Park and fourth-degree black belt Instructor Rodney Rice.
Miss Jones, who resides in Remington, is the daughter of H.W. “Jake” and Elisabeth Jones and grandaughter of Elisabeth B. Johnson and the late C.E. “Ned” Johnson Jr. of Sperryville. She has been a student and assistant at Park’s College of Tae Kwon Do since the school’s opening three years ago. She is now a full-time instructor at the Warrenton school and the newly opened Park’s College of Tae Kwon Do at Fredericksburg.
During Friday’s exhibition, Miss Jones and other candidates for promotion demonstrated Tae Kwon-Do skills they have learned, including their forms (patterns of techniques), self-defense, fighting, and board breaking. The four candidates for first dan, showed their first black belt form, Koryo.
Jones, as candidate for second dan, performed the second black belt form, Keumkang, and also presented self-defense against knife attacks.
