Usters B. Dodson

Usters Benton Dodson, 74, of Sperryville, died Dec. 19 at his home.

Mr. Dodson is survived by his wife Lois, two sisters, Bertha Dodson of Castleton and Fledia Dodson of Martinsburg, West Virginia, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dodson was born July 31, 1915, on Hazeltop Mountain in what is now Shenandoah National Park. He was the son of Walker B. Dodson and Frances Loney Dodson, one of ten children.

He was a veteran of service in the United States Army during World War II, including three years overseas. He was decorated for valor, and received an honorable discharge with the rank of Sergeant in 1946.

Services will be held at the Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper on Friday, Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. A commitment service at the Sperryville Cemetery will follow. The Rev. Floyd Binns will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the Geest-Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 21 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
