in 31st District

Democrat Jerry Wood, a Warrenton pharmacist, took the 31st District House of Delegates seat Tuesday, with about 1,200 votes more than Republican candidate Robert Darby.
Unofficial results showed Mr. Wood winning with 53.8 percent of the vote over Mr. Darby with 46.2 percent. Mr. Wood got 8,792 votes and Mr. Darby 7,544.
The 31st District was created in the last redistricting process and includes all of Fauquier, except the precincts of Upperville and The Plains, all of Rappahannock and most of Warren.
Mr. Wood, a lifelong area resident, had a base of support in Fauquier, where about 70 percent of the disrict’s population lives. He showed
