Fravel Blades

Fravel Partlow Blades, 83, of Venice, Fla., died Saturday, Nov. 2.

Mrs. Blades was born Dec. 2, 1907 in Washington. She moved to Venice from Falls Church in 1962. She was a supervisor for the Adjutant General’s Office at the Department of Defense.

She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Chruch in Venice, former clerk of Vestery at St. Mark’s, former secretary of Episcopal Churchwomen and a member of the Diocese of Southwest Florida. She graduated from State Teachers College in Farmville, now Longwood College.

Survivors include a daughter, Paula O’Connor of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a cousin, Jane Hirst Bogie of Purcellville.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Gwendolyn Hockman.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 6 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with burial in Gull Pines Memorial Park.
