supervisors chose to defer the taxes they would still be owed and payable when the property is sold or the eligible homeowner dies.
Col. Bingham indicated that he would prefer to exempt a percentage of taxes due. Other members said they would prefer a system for deferring the taxes. Mr. McCarthy and Commissioner of Revenue Beverly Atkins said they would look at ordinances from surrounding counties and make a recommendation at the December meeting.
The supervisors also agreed to advertise a “request for proposals (RFP)” for the Enhanced E-911 system. Mr. McCarthy had prepared a RFP to be advertised for competitive negotiation.
