Admiral Stansfield Turner, the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency who has a summer home in Castleton, will be signing copies of his new book, “Terrorism and Democracy,” at Down Under Laurel Mills Store, 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.
In “Terrorism and Democracy” Adm. Turner examines the failed and successful policies of the last eight U.S. presidents who have faced the issue of terrorism. He talks about his own experiences in coping with the Iran hostage crisis and makes an overview of how terrorism influenced American policy during the past decades.
Adm. Turner was CIA director under President Carter, 1977-1981, and was commander-in-chief of NATO’s Southern Flank. He lectures, writes, and makes frequent -appearances on television to analyze military strategy, national intelligence and foreign affairs.
